Stacey says, “My biggest tip to any sewer is to try and fit in at least 30 minutes of sewing a day, it’s always amazing what can be accomplished in small pieces of time as it all adds up.”
It’s hard to believe that almost ten years ago I opened the doors to Peppermint Stitches. At the time I had just made my first quilt – and boy was it terrible! Thank goodness I have improved!
Whilst I started as a cross stitcher, quilting has taken over my store and my heart. I have tried to cultivate a store that has bright, happy and modern fabrics for our lovely customers. Personally selecting fabric for the store has to be one of the best perks of my job, and I look at my store as my personal stash.
Like most people, I enjoy travelling and have drawn inspiration for my block from the various cityscapes around the world. My favourite place to travel to is Tokyo and I have been multiple times hitting up all the fabric shops each time growing my stash of Japanese fabric. This year I am going back – this time with my 3 year old and 1 year old in tow. It is going to be interesting to see Tokyo from a different perspective – I’m not sure if I will get to as many fabric shops this time, but I will try!
One of my favourite cityscapes will always be my hometown in Brisbane. This past year I took up riding and ride to work along the Brisbane river and get the opportunity to take in our lovely city buildings every day. It is a lovely way to start and end my days.
