Pat here!! I have 6 Splendid Blocks so far (one is the bonus).
I’m auditioning for Focal Point by the Talented Natalia. Her color placement is key to making this block work like hers.
Many of the blocks have a line drawing at the end that the designer provided. For this block it’s key to fabric placement. I’m using red/aqua/cream for all my 100 blocks.
In this block I want the center unit to be the most obvious part, so I’m putting red there. By taking a small piece of the fabric I’m going to use and cutting it to test I will see exactly how it looks. Yes it’s so worth using some of your fabric to do this, trust me… I know you have more fabric, so it’s ok!
Next is dark aqua in one direction
And light aqua in the other. I have a cream for the background but I don’t need to audition that.
You’ll notice I also did not cut up the fabric for all the sops. You could, but I felt I could see where this was going without doing that.
I’m sure happy with this so will be sewing it up!
We have an incredibly talented and generous group of designers working with us. Sara Lawson is known for her bags and amazing outfits, visit her site sewsweetness.com to see them
Her adorable, scrap busting tote is called Arabesque and is FREE! We are so lucky to have Sara on our team!
Looking for my favorite Pink Scissors? You can get them here, scoll to the end
I added this to the Bonus section so you can find it again.
We hope you are checking out the blocks, sharing yours and having a fabulous time!
