What colours make you happy? Start with that thought and begin selecting colours and prints for your Splendid Sampler.
Let the fabrics tell your story.
For 100 blocks you will need a minimum of 30 -35 FQ’s or equivalent scraps for variety. Small to medium prints work the best on 6″ blocks but there is also scope to fussy cut some larger prints for some of the blocks. Try a 2-colour theme such as red/white, black/white or blue/white or the fresh look of aqua and red.
Try a completely scrappy look with like colours from across different collections. Don’t you love the dots, stripes and ginghams?
The background should be a fabric that provides good contrast for the featured design. You may want to go with solids, low volume or a dark colour, such as charcoal or black. 3 – 3 1/2″ yards of background is recommended although planning ahead for settings and having that little bit extra won’t go astray.
